Why can’t you just do those things because you’re a good and honourable person who’s preconceptions have been challenged and dismantled through the last 20-ish episodes?

Huh. I always thought of this stuff as commentary about her relationship with André + class. I realize that this is an interpretation but I think that she’s saying: André and I are equals. I will do this because we’re equals. I never really even considered that she was saying that her wibbly feelings for André are her only motivation.
It’s really important to me to remember that class has been a huge issue in their relationship and that for them to be together she has to get off her high horses, just a little bit. Her constant referal to ‘my husband’ is not so much about romance as it is about showing André and also the men, who are supposed to follow her in battle, that she wants to be their equal.
